About Us

Mark Sheehan is a qualified electrician holding Australia and New Zealand licences.  Mark has been in the electrical industry since 1972, first trained in heavy industrial commercial field then setting up a electrical contracting business in NSW 1981 – 1996.  In 1994 Mark was accredited by the Victorian Solar Assn to carry remote location power supplies.   

Mark moved to Wanaka in 1996.  In 2002 Alpine Light & Power started operating in the alternative energy industry installing stand-alone systems ie: irrigation pump controls, weather stations, standard cottages, lodges, portable workshops.  

Mark works with various other contractors to supply alternative options.  One of these contractors is Mark Ayre from the Solar Estate.  Mark Ayre has been involved in the alternative energy field since 1991. After building his award winning natural house and featuring in the book 'Solar Made Easy' by Simon Cope and Bob Riley, Mark Ayre has worked on everything from simple house trucks to equipment that has been used half-way up Mt Everest.
